Tragic high-speed crash claims two lives on Ahmedabad-Mumbai route

Ahmedabad: The males aged between 22 and 27 were recording themselves while moving at a high speed when tragedy hit.

Incident Overview

In a devastating accident on May 2, five men traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Maruti Suzuki Brezza experienced a high-speed crash that resulted in the deaths of two passengers. 

The accident occurred between 3:30 and 4:30 am and involved a dangerous combination of high speed and reckless driving, as the group was reportedly recording their journey for an Instagram live stream.

Details of the Accident

According to NDTV, the men, aged between 22 and 27, were playing loud music and live-streaming their drive. In the video, the car’s speedometer is shown hitting 160 kmph, with the passengers egging the driver on and making disparaging comments about other drivers on the road. One passenger can be heard saying, “Look how the car is going,” as the camera focuses on the speedometer.

Fatal Crash

As the driver, identified as Mustafa (also known as Shahbad Khan Pathan), accelerated through traffic and ignored speed limits, the car ultimately lost control.

The video captures the sudden application of brakes before the car crashes. The SUV collided with a tree near Adas in Gujarat, approximately 100 kilometers from Ahmedabad.

Casualties and Injuries

The accident claimed the lives of Ahmedabad natives Aman Mehboobbhai Sheikh and Chiragkumar K. Patel. The other passengers, also from Ahmedabad, sustained injuries and received medical treatment. The driver, Mustafa, has been charged in connection with the accident.

Police officials reported that the high speed and reckless behavior led to the tragic outcome. The incident underscores the dangers of distracted driving and excessive speed, particularly when coupled with the influence of social media and peer encouragement.
