Ukraine attacks Putin’s Moscow residence; says assassination bid

Russia accused Ukraine of launching a drone strike on the Kremlin with the goal of killing President Vladimir Putin, according to Reuters, citing Russia news agencies.

According to RIA, the Kremlin believes the Ukraine drone strike was a “planned terrorist activity” and that two drones were employed in the attack.

Both had been rendered inoperable by Russian defences, according to the Kremlin.

The Kremlin stated that Vladimir Putin was not harmed and that there was no material damage to the facilities. Videos widely posted on social media purported to show a column of smoke over the Kremlin.

Bloomberg reported that shortly before the Kremlin statement, Moscow city authorities issued an order prohibiting the use of drones in the capital.

As per the local media sources, the Kremlin reportedly stated that the May 9 Victory Day march in Moscow would take place despite the event.
