President Vladimir Putin might miss the G20 Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be at the G20 conference in New Delhi on Friday, September 9-10, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed.

“No, the president has no such plans,” a Kremlin spokesman told the official Tass news agency. Putin was also absent from the just-finished BRICS summit. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov represented him.

The format of Putin’s participation would be established later, according to Peskov.

Arrest order by ICC for President Vladimir Putin:

President Putin opted not to attend the first in-person BRICS summit following COVID-19 since the International Criminal Court (ICC) published an arrest order for him in March over an alleged conspiracy to relocate Ukrainian minors to Russia.

South Africa is an ICC signatory and was expected to assist in the arrest of Putin if he was in the nation.

Putin has not left Russia since February 2022:

According to Bloomberg, the Kremlin stated Putin has a full itinerary. “Putin has a “packed schedule,” and his main focus at the moment is prosecuting Russia’s war in neighbouring Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Friday, according to Interfax news service,” Bloomberg said.

Since the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, which generated international criticism and harsh sanctions by the US and its allies, Putin has seldom left Russia. He also skipped the G-20 summit in Indonesia last year.
