Vadodara Accident: Fatal Crash Caused by Alleged Drink Driving

In the early hours of Friday, tragedy struck at a popular night hangout spot on the Akota-Dandia Bazar flyover in Vadodara as a speeding car collided with two-wheelers and pedestrians, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.

Vadodara Accident Incident Details:

At around 1 am, a speeding car, allegedly driven by mechanical engineer Kalp Pandya (24), crashed into two two-wheelers and pedestrians at the Akota-Dandia Bazar flyover.

The collision led to the death of a 23-year-old MBA student named Aakash, while two others, identified as Preeti Sharma and Aashta Parikh (20), sustained injuries.

Legal Action Taken on Vadodara Accident:

The Akota police station booked Kalp Pandya for alleged culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as for rash and negligent driving.

Pandya and his friend Shristhi Desai were also booked under the Prohibition Act for possession of alcohol recovered from the car.

Investigation Findings:

Inspector Y G Makwana stated that Pandya was allegedly driving the car at a speed exceeding 150 kmph, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

The car crashed into the divider and skidded towards bystanders, leading to the fatal accident.

Police Response to the Incident:

Pandya and Desai have been detained for medical examination, and blood samples have been collected for analysis. The police retrieved a bottle of alcohol and other empty bottles from the scene, further implicating Pandya.

One of the injured, Parikh, filed a complaint with the Akota police station detailing the sequence of events leading to the accident.
