Amid the COVID-19 crisis, Varun Dhawan transferred
money to the bank accounts of 200 background dancers.
Amid the novel COVID-19 virus pandemic, Actor Varun Dhawan has taken a positive step towards supporting
200 background dancers with whom the actor has worked and collaborated in his
past films. The ABCD 2 actor has pledged to contribute money to the dancers
every month until normal, full-fledged shooting resumes. Varun directly
transferred money to their bank accounts. The actor had also taken upon himself
to help the daily wage workers during the lockdown while also making
significant contributions to the Prime Minister’s PM CARES and Chief Minister’s
fund.
Varun Dhawan pays a handsome
amount for the dancers’ monthly needs:
Many artists and workers are out of work due to the shutting down of all the film and TV productions ever since the Coronavirus pandemic hit the nation. The daily wage artists and dancers have been living a tougher life in the nationwide lockdown and still, normalcy has yet not returned in the Indian Entertainment industry. A former background dancer, song coordinator, Raj Surani of Octopus Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. said,” Varun and David (Dhawan) sir were very concerned about the dancers because there has been no work since three to four months now. Even if shoots start, all the dancers won’t get work immediately, only a few will be allowed on sets. So Varun called me to understand the plight of these dancers and we sent them a list of those who needed urgent help. He has sent a handsome amount to the bank accounts of 200 dancers, and will be continuing to help them until shoots resume properly.”
Dhawan gives enough amounts to
sustain:
Surani complemented the support
provided by the Dhawan’s to the dancers. “While I can’t tell you how much money
he has sent, it is a good amount to sustain themselves. Both Varun and David
Sir have been very thoughtful. Varun regularly comes to our dance studio for
rehearsals, so he is quite close to the dancers,” added Surani.
Varun Dhawan will be seen
sharing the screen with Sara Ali Khan in David Dhawan’s directorial ‘Coolie No.1’.
