Watch the impact of cyclone Biparjoy at Marine Drive, Mumbai

High tidal waves and strong winds continued to pound Mumbai on Wednesday as Cyclone Biparjoy made its way towards Gujarat as a very dangerous Cyclonic storm.

Cyclone Biparjoy, expected to make landfall near Gujarat’s Jakhau port, has also had a major impact on Mumbai.

In Mumbai, intense high tidal surges were seen near Marine Drive and the Gateway of India.

Several feet-long floods surged at Mumbai’s Marine Drive and splashed across the streets in a clip shared by news agency ANI.

Surging waves were visible in another video at the Gateway of India as tourists descended the seaside walkway. The water also slapped on some people, and no boats were in sight.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that Mumbai would get light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday.

According to the IMD Mumbai, Mumbai will experience intermittent winds of 45-55 kmph.

Officials confirmed on Tuesday that 3 of the 4 youngsters presumed to have drowned on Monday at Juhu Koliwada in Mumbai. As they were stepping into the choppy water had been discovered dead.

Local police rescued Dharmesh Bhujiya, 15, Shubham Bhogania, 16, and Manish Bhogania, 15, and took them to Cooper Hospital. The physicians declared them dead. One of the boys is still missing.

The event happened in the western suburbs of Mumbai when eight lads went to the deep end of the jetty and sat on the ledge, despite warnings of severe seas caused by Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ and high tide. 

According to the Mumbai Police, one of the boys was saved by a local fisherman, while the other three fled. Due to terrible weather and darkness, the BMC ceased search and rescue activities at 11 p.m. on Monday.
