Zero positive cases reported in recent Premier League Coronavirus Tests.

Premier League gets a boost for its planned restart on June 17 as no new players or staff was tested positive of the novel COVID-19 virus. 

On Saturday, after the latest batch of novel COVID-19 virus tests, Premier League received a further boost in their bid to resume the league on June 17 as the Coronavirus test results revealed zero positive cases. The tests on the players, staff and employees were carried out on Thursday and Friday.

The league in a statement said, “The Premier League can today confirm that on Thursday 28th May and Friday 29th May 1130 players and club staff were tested for Coronavirus. Of these, zero has tested positive.”

Premier League to resume after 3 months of suspension:

A total of 12 positive cases were reported in the three previous rounds of testing since the players resumed training. Premier League was suspended in mid-March as part of a global pandemic and since then no match has been played. The Premier League has targeted June 17 as a return date provided all the safety requirements are adhered to. 

The government of England has given the green light to resume elite sports in England from June 1st, provided that strict safety guidelines of its Stage Three Protocol are followed. 

The Premier League’s Chief Executive Richard Masters welcomed the move but cautioned the institution to “ensure the safety of everyone involved.” He said, ”Premier League has been working with the Department for Digital, Cultural, Media and Sport to produce this Stage Three Protocol. If all goes well, we will be thrilled to resume the 2019/20 season in just over two weeks’ time.” 

Each of the remaining 92 fixtures will be broadcasted on television and games will be played in empty stadiums without the fans.
