In Delhi, the coronavirus positivity rate and daily Covid cases have increased and 5 Covid deaths.

On Wednesday, Delhi reported five coronavirus-related deaths and 2,073 new cases, as the positivity rate remained above 10% for the third day. It reached 11.64 percent, the highest level since January 24, when it was 11.79 percent.

With the new infections on Wednesday, the national capital’s Covid case tally reached 19,60,172, while the number of deaths reached 26,321. According to health department data, 17,815 tests were performed the day before to detect COVID-19.

In the last week, the city’s positivity rate and daily Covid cases have steadily increased. On Tuesday, Delhi reported 1,506 Covid cases and three deaths, with a test positivity rate of 10.69%. The previous day’s positivity rate was 11.41 percent.

On June 26, the national capital had recorded 1,891 cases.

Delhi recorded 1,263 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with a positivity rate of 9.35%. The city had 1,333 patients with an 8.39 percent positivity rate the day before, and three people died from the viral disease.

On Friday, there were 1,245 Covid cases in the city, with a positivity rate of 7.36 percent and one death. On Thursday, it had recorded 1,128 points, with a positivity rate of 6.56 percent and no deaths reported.

Delhi now has 5,637 active cases, up from 5,006 the day before. As many as 3214 Covid patients are being isolated at home.

Only 376 of the 9,405 coronavirus beds in various Delhi hospitals were occupied on Wednesday. According to the most recent bulletin, beds at Covid care centers and Covid health centers were vacant.

According to the report, there are currently 183 containment zones in the city. Delhi has reported a few cases of Omicron’s highly transmissible BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.

During the third pandemic wave, the number of daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi reached a record high of 28,867 on January 13 this year. On January 14, the city’s positivity rate was 30.6 percent, the highest during the third pandemic wave.
