Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, a biographical film based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was announced on Wednesday. The film, which is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2025, will be available in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The movie stars Anant Joshi as Yogi Adityanath, portraying his journey from a humble middle-class boy to the influential leader of India’s most populous state. The film is directed by Ravindra Gautam, known for his work on Maharani 2, and produced by Samrat Cinematics, with Ritu Mengi overseeing the production.

The film is based on Shantanu Gupta’s book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister, which details Yogi Adityanath’s rise from his roots in a remote village in Uttarakhand to becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Along with the announcement, a motion poster was unveiled featuring Anant Joshi as Yogi Adityanath, shown renouncing worldly pleasures to serve the people. The motion poster also features a voiceover by actor Paresh Rawal, who narrates a pivotal moment in Yogi Adityanath’s life: “Vo kuch nahi chahta tha, sab usko chahte the. Janta ne usko sarkar bana diya” (“He didn’t wish for anything. Everyone loved him. People made him a leader”). This line emphasizes the people’s overwhelming support and the selflessness that characterized his journey.

The supporting cast includes notable actors such as Dinesh Lal Yadav, Ajay Mengi, Pavan Malhotra, Rajesh Khattar, Garima Vikrant Singh, and Sarwar Ahuja. The title of the film, Ajey, is inspired by Yogi Adityanath’s birth name, Ajay Singh Bisht, reflecting his roots before he became a prominent figure in Indian politics.

The movie is designed to inspire young people, showcasing how a simple, determined individual from a small village can rise to become a significant political leader. Director Ravindra Gautam expressed that the film will highlight the themes of faith, leadership, and selflessness. He described the story as one of unwavering determination and said that the team had worked hard to create a cinematic experience that captures the essence of Yogi Adityanath’s extraordinary life.

Music for the film is composed by Meet Bros, while the screenplay is written by Dilip Bachchan Jha and Priyank Dubey. Vishnu Rao serves as the director of photography, and Uday Prakash Singh is the production designer, ensuring the film has a strong visual and artistic appeal. With its upcoming release, Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi promises to offer audiences a deep and inspiring look into the life of one of India’s most influential contemporary leaders.
