Adulterated Ghee in Gujarat: Authorities in Gujarat’s Navsari district seized over 3,000 kg of adulterated ghee during a raid on Sunday. The operation, led by the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), uncovered palm oil, which was believed to have been mixed with the ghee to reduce costs.

Action Based on Intelligence on the Issue:

The FDCA team initiated the raid at Shiv Food Products in Onchi village following actionable intelligence about ongoing malpractices. The raid resulted in the seizure of goods valued at approximately ₹14 lakh.

The brand implicated in the adulteration scandal is Sukhwant, now investigated for selling contaminated products. Authorities seized 10 palm oil containers from the facility, which were allegedly used in the adulteration process.

Laboratory Testing on Adulterated Ghee in Gujarat:

Eight samples of the adulterated ghee were taken for laboratory testing to ensure the presence of palm oil. These tests are crucial in determining the extent of the adulteration.

Gujarat FDCA Commissioner H.G. Koshia emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring the availability of pure and safe food products for citizens. He assured that legal action would be pursued following the lab results to hold those responsible accountable.
