The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive cash reward of Rs 58 crore for the Indian cricket team after their remarkable victory in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. This triumph, secured on March 9, 2025, saw India defeat New Zealand in a thrilling final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This victory marked India’s third Champions Trophy win, following their previous successes in 2002 and 2013.

Roger Binny, the President of the BCCI, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, emphasizing the significance of back-to-back ICC titles. He stated that the reward was a recognition of the players’ dedication, hard work, and excellence on the global stage. He also highlighted that 2025 had been an exceptional year for Indian cricket, with another ICC title in the form of the U19 Women’s World Cup victory, showcasing the strength of the country’s cricketing ecosystem.

They continued their strong form by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by six wickets in the group stage, with Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI century anchoring the chase of 242 runs. Following New Zealand’s win over Bangladesh, India secured a place in the semi-finals.

In their final group match, India defeated New Zealand thanks to Varun Chakravarthy’s impressive five-wicket haul and Shreyas Iyer’s 79 runs. This victory helped India finish top of the table in the group stage. In the semi-final, Virat Kohli’s crucial 84 runs guided India to a four-wicket victory over Australia, sending them to the final for the third consecutive time after 2013 and 2017.

The final was a hard-fought encounter, but India came out on top, defeating New Zealand by four wickets. Rohit Sharma’s leadership and 76-run knock were pivotal in the victory, while Shreyas Iyer was the standout batsman of the tournament, amassing 243 runs in five matches at an average of 79.41.
