Despite recovering from Covid-19 in a matter of weeks, Deepika took a two-month hiatus before returning to work. The actor has now admitted that it was because her “mind wasn’t working” and that she was going through a “very, difficult phase.”
Deepika disclosed how Covid-19 affected her physically in a recent interview with Film Companion. “Life changed for me after Covid because physically, I was unrecognizable… I believe (due to) the medication I was given, the steroids that I was put on.”
So Covid was strange in and of itself; your body feels different, your mind feels different,” she explained.
The actor went on to say that it was the illness’s aftereffects, rather than the illness itself, that forced her to take a “mini-sabbatical.” “I felt it was still okay when I had the illness,” she continued, “but after that, I needed to take 2 months off work because my mind wasn’t working.” “The phase was challenging for me.”
Deepika is currently preparing for her next film, Gehraiyaan, directed by Shakun Batra. The movie Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa will be available on Amazon Prime Video on February 11.
In a statement about the movie, director Shakun Batra said, “Gehraiyaan for me is more than just a movie.” It is a journey into the complexities of human relationships, a reflection of modern adult relationships. How we navigate the maze of feelings or emotions, also how each step, each decision we make affects our lives or the lives of those around us.”
