Director Anil Sharma feels Gadar 2 is today’s Sholay

Gadar 2 will be released in theatres on August 11th. Director Anil Sharma commented on the film’s dismal critical reception and how it shattered all box office expectations after its 2001 debut in a new interview with Lehren Retro. After then, the director compared Gadar 2 to Mughal-E-Azam and Sholay. 

Gadar 2 is like Sholay and Mughal-E-Azam?

“At that time, even though Gadar became a big hit, there were many who did not respect the film,” Anil stated in a new interview with Lehren Retro. It’s not a big deal. 

The same scenario happened with Mughal-E-Azam and Sholay; none received an award. It’s good company. The public, on the other hand, loved and enjoyed the film.”

Gadar was called a Gutter:

Anil then recalled how the film received negative reviews and continued, “The industry called Gadar ‘gutter.'” The film was titled ‘Gutter Ek Prem Katha’ in the initial review I read. 

A major English-language newspaper reviewer stated that evaluating it was beneath them. I’m still baffled as to why folks were so cruel.”

Meanwhile, according to reports, Gadar 2 is on track for a massive first-day box office haul, as the film has already sold over 1 lakh tickets at multiplexes.

The Sequel after 17 years:

Tara Singh, played by Sunny Deol, makes a reappearance in Gadar 2. Ameesha Patel reprises her role as his wife, Shakeena, in the film. Utkarsh Sharma, who played Sunny and Ameesha’s son in the original, reprises his role. 

The Sequel takes place in 1971, almost 17 years after the events of Gadar. Tara Singh journeys all the way to Pakistan in the caravan to save his son, Charan Jeet Singh (Utkrash Sharma), from the Pakistani Army. The film is said to have a lot of conversation and battle scenes.
