The beauty giant would use the International Space Station as a marketing prop in a bid to stand out in a competitive area.

Estee Cos Lauder. It is sending the newest skincare formula into space, and for a few Instagram posts, it will cost just about as much as paying a significant influencer.

The U.S. cosmetics company is investing $128,000 on the International Space Station to fly ten bottles of its skin serum to NASA. While there, astronauts may take photos of the Advanced Night Repair of Estee Lauder in the control tower of the cupola, which has panoramic views of the cosmos.

When the objects return to Earth this spring, the photos will use on social media, with the business preparing to sell one bottle off for charity.

As customers are cutting back, the global recession, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has forced brands to become more creative with their ads. Inside beauty, when searching for new ways to break through the multitude of content out there, many businesses spend less on conventional advertising.

Estee Lauder highlighted it in a press release as the “first beauty brand to go into space” as a way of promoting its “skincare breakthrough.”

The drive of Estee Lauder into micro-gravity is part of NASA’s attempt to commercialize low-earth orbit and make it a domain where private companies essentially do business as frequently as the government performs spacewalks.

Space has been used for testing by companies from Goodyear Tire & Rubber to Merck & Co, and NASA is planning to extend its use, with private people visiting the space station.

“Phil McAlister, NASA’s director of commercial spaceflight production, said,” We need to broaden people’s perspectives on what we can do in space.
