Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik declared an ex-gratia of 5 lakhs apiece to the kin of the victims in the railway derailment in Balasore from the CM’s Relief Fund on Sunday.

“The next of kin of the deceased will receive assistance in the amount of 5 lahks, and those who sustained serious injuries will receive assistance in the amount of 1 lakh,” the Office of the Chief Minister (CMO) Odisha stated.

So far, 288 people have died in the train catastrophe, and over 1,000 have been injured.

The Chief Minister has also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. And it wished the injured a quick recovery.

The victims of the train disaster are being treated at various government and private hospitals between Bhubaneswar and Balasore, according to the statement.

On Saturday, Odisha CM visited the accident scene and assessed the situation in Odisha’s Balasore, where a passenger train crashed with a goods train, injuring multiple people.

Meanwhile, rehabilitation begins in Odisha’s Balasore, where two passenger trains and a freight vehicle were in a terrible accident.

According to the preliminary assessment of the tragedy, the three-way disaster involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express, and cargo trains on three distinct lines at Bahanaga Bazar Station in the Balasore district.

In the Friday evening disaster, 17 coaches from these two passenger trains were derailed and seriously damaged.
