Imran Khan Islamic Sharia Law, he is not following says Cleric

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan did not follow the Islamic Sharia law during his marriage with Bushra Bibi. Mufti Saeed, the solemnised who performed his Nikkah (wedding), has stated, according to local media.

During an Islamabad court hearing on a petition by Muhammad Hanif, the cleric stated that the Nikkah was not following the Shariah law.

The cleric revealed that the ceremony took place during Bushra Bibi’s iddat period, a waiting period observed by Muslim women after the death of their husband or divorce. Muslim women are not allowed to marry another guy during this period since it is considered a mourning period for women.

According to the Express Tribune, the cleric stated that he was brought to the Defence Housing Authority Lahore in 2018 to officiate the marriage and that he only performed the ceremony when a lady claiming to be Bushra Bibi’s sister gave him the nod. The ceremony was held on January 1, 2018.

Imran Khan contacted the priest in February 2018 and asked him to re-conduct their wedding because he believed Shariah law had been flouted the first time, he told the court.

Imran Khan, as well as Bushra Bibi, were aware of the situation, but Imran Khan believed the marriage might help him become Prime Minister, according to the priest.

Previously, Bushra Bibi was in the news when a fight broke out between Imran Khan’s followers and Punjab police over the gifts issue. According to sources, when the police entered Imran Khan’s home, Bushra Bibi was alone.
