Maharashtra CM Thackeray: Will tackle all political issues.

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that many people amid criticism of the cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and the row involving actress Kangana Ranaut from Bollywood were hatching a conspiracy to malign the state.

“Other people will feel that coronavirus disease is over now, and they should resume politics again. I am not going to talk about politics, but there is a plot to undermine Maharashtra, “Thackeray said in a public address on television.

But he did not call anyone’s name.

Maharashtra, which is the country’s worst-hit district, has seen over a million cases of coronavirus disease.

Recently there has also been controversy over Ranaut after her office demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is governed by the state government.

The chief minister told people he’s able to face any “storm” whether it’s a political storm or the coronavirus disease. “Whatever political storms arrive, I’ll tackle them … I will also combat the pandemic coronavirus, “Thackeray said.

“My silence does not signify that I have no answers,” he said.

In his latest speech, which came after a day Maharashtra crossed the 1 million Covid-19 cases mark, Thackeray also said that his government had done an adequate job of tackling the pandemic.

Speaking of the state situation in Covid-19, Thackeray said that in the coming days it is likely to get more serious. He also urged people to obey all the norms of social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

Covid cases and recoveries in Maharashtra:

The Covid-19 pandemic includes Maharashtra among the worst-hit states. The state reported 22,084 new cases on Sunday, raising its count to 10,37,765 with 279,768 active cases including 7,28,512 recoveries, according to the state department of health.

War of Words between Kangana and Thackeray:

After the critically acclaimed actor said she feels unsafe in Mumbai and has no trust in Mumbai Police after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranaut and Thackeray-led Shiv Sena had engaged in a bitter war of words.

BMC partially demolished Ranaut’s office in Bandra on Wednesday, drawing backlash from several political leaders and their colleagues in Bollywood.

Ranaut had reached Mumbai hours after the BMC had carried out the demolition flanked by security guards provided by the Union home ministry.
