Man Accused in Double Murder Arrested After 9 Months

20-year-old man, wanted in connection with a double murder case since May of last year, has been apprehended in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

The accused, who had been on the run following the rejection of his bail plea, was located in Nalla Sopara through a concerted effort by law enforcement authorities. The incident, which occurred on May 17, 2023, saw the tragic deaths of Raunak Anjani Tiwari and Kishan Sanjay Jha, both 18 years old, with another individual, Shivam Omprakash Mishra, sustaining injuries. The crime took place in Shirdi Nagar, Nalla Sopara, Palghar, where the police discovered the bodies of the victims, partially burnt and bearing head injuries. The victims, along with Mishra, were known to each other as friends.

The accused had sought pre-arrest bail, which was denied by the court due to the compelling evidence presented by the police. Subsequently, Mishra evaded authorities and remained elusive. However, diligent efforts by the police, including the analysis of CCTV footage from the crime scene and the utilization of technical and intelligence resources, led to his arrest in Nalla Sopara on Saturday.

This development marks a significant breakthrough in the case, bringing closure to the families of the victims and underscoring the commitment of law enforcement agencies to apprehend perpetrators of serious crimes.
