Mumbai Police have prohibited any public gatherings until June 11; know why

Mumbai Police knew there was a possibility of a breach of peace and disruption of public tranquillity, and even, there was a severe danger to human lives and loss of properties.

Police on Monday gave prohibitory orders banning the movement and unlawful group of five or more people in public areas in expectation of a breach of peace, trouble to public tranquillity and risk to human lives. Mumbai Police said the order will stay in force till June 11.

In the new instructions, the Mumbai Police said that based on the data received from different sources, it is known that there is a possibility of a violation of peace and disruption of public tranquillity. Also, there is a grave threat to human lives and property loss.

Vishal Thakur, DCP, Operations, Mumbai Police, gave the prohibitory mandate. Sharing details, Mumbai Police said it is a regular preventive order issued at frequent intervals.

See what’s not allowed till June 11

  • Any group of five or more people in public areas
  • Public procession
  • Use of loudspeakers, amplifying devices, musical band and bursting of crackers in any parade

What’s permitted

  • The wedding ceremony and marital functions
  • Funerals
  • Procession on crematoriums/burial sites.
  • Statutory meetings of firms, clubs, cooperative societies
  • Masses in or near Cinema houses, theatres
  • Assemblies in or about courts of law and offices
  • Crowds in or near schools, colleges
  • Groups in factories, stores
