The leader of a criminal team that has claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala has gone to court to prevent the Punjab Police from arresting him.
The gang’s leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, has been serving time in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in an organized crime case under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, or MCOCA, which has strict bail conditions.
Lawrence Bishnoi asked Delhi’s Patiala House Court not to hand him over to the Punjab Police because he fears being kill in an “encounter.”
Goldy Brar, a member of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang who lives in Canada. He has commandeered responsibility for the death of Sidhu Moose Wala in a Facebook post. While driving his SUV, the singer was pierce at least 30 times with an automatic assault rifle.
Lawrence Bishnoi is a learner student leader at Delhi University.
His lawyer denied his involvement, asking, “How can such a massive murder conspiracy be plan from prison?”
The Punjab Police believe gang rivalry is to blame for Sidhu Moose Wala’s death. According to investigations, Goldy Brar was in contact with someone also inside Tihar jail. A key suspect was charge earlier today in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun in a joint operation by state and Punjab police.
This suspect was discover among pilgrims to the Hemkund Sahib yatra in the mountains. As a result, five other people were detained, and Punjab Police hold the main suspect from Dehradun.
