In yet another case of unruly onboard behaviour, the Delhi police have arrested a Nepal national for reportedly assaulting Air India staff members and damaging the bathroom door on a trip from Toronto to Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the FIR, the passenger, Mahesh Pandit, switched seats and yelled at the crew members.

According to the FIR submitted by the victim’s cabin supervisor Aditya Kumar, the passenger halted when they alerted the pilot in command and issued him a warning.

However, the passenger was caught with a cigarette lighter inside the restroom after the smoke alarm went off, according to news agency ANI.

Air India Cabin crew statement on Nepal National:

“When I opened the door in front of the passenger, he pushed me back and ran to his seat 26F.” When I tried to stop him, he pushed and abused me. He afterwards smashed the LAV door 3F-RC.

Then I immediately alerted the captain, and we tried to restrain him as per SOP with the assistance of cabin crew Punit Sharma and four other passengers,” Kumar told authorities, according to ANI.

“We were able to restrain the accused passenger with the help of ten other passengers,” he continued. We found out that the accused had tried to beat the passengers.”

The case has been registered:

The Delhi Police has launched a case against the passenger at the IGI Police station under sections 323/506/336 of the Indian Penal Code and 22,23,25 of the Aircraft Rules, and further investigation is continuing.

Several passengers allegedly urinating or misbehaving onboard have been recorded over the past few months.

The first example that came to light was that of Shankar Mishra, who allegedly urinated in an inebriated state on an elderly woman on a New York-Delhi Air India aircraft on November 26 last year.

Mishra was detained in connection with the case but was released on bail after nearly a month in jail.
