Air India CEO Updates Employees on Annual Appraisal Cycle

Campbell Wilson, the Chief Executive Officer of Air India, recently sent an annual letter to the airline’s employees expressing gratitude for their contributions over the past year and providing updates on the company’s progress.

Amidst ongoing developments, including the annual appraisal cycle and recruitment initiatives, Wilson underscored the airline’s commitment to transformation and growth.

Air India Annual Appraisal Cycle:

Wilson informed employees that the annual appraisal cycle is underway, with Finance and HR teams diligently compiling data to determine increments and other related matters.

He assured that once the necessary processes, including reporting, auditing, and board approvals, are completed in the coming weeks, the outcomes will be shared, and changes will be implemented effectively from April 1.

Progress and Transformation of Air India:

Highlighting Air India’s journey towards becoming a “world-class, global airline with an Indian heart,” Wilson emphasized significant achievements and ongoing initiatives.

The airline recently welcomed its first cadet pilots, poised to commence ground training in the United States.

Additionally, the cabin crew successfully cleared a backlog of training batches, with the impending addition of the airline’s 4,000th crew member post-privatization. Wilson praised the incoming cadets and existing team members, noting their collective role in shaping the airline’s identity and operations.

Operational Challenges at Vistara:

In contrast to Air India’s progress, concerns have arisen regarding operational delays and cancellations at Vistara, Air India’s sister airline.

Wilson indirectly addressed these challenges, referencing pilots’ mass ‘sick leave’ protests against Vistara’s new compensation structure and schedule.

While not directly addressing Vistara’s situation, the acknowledgment suggests an awareness of industry-related issues impacting the broader aviation sector.
