PM Modi slams Opposition over Manipur violence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the Opposition over the Manipur violence on Saturday, claiming that the Bhartiya Janata Party-led NDA government responded appropriately in the no-confidence motion to people spreading negativity throughout the country.

We defeated the Opposition, says PM:

Modi told the BJP’s Kshetriya Panchayati Raj Parishad in West Bengal via video conference, “We defeated the opposition’s no-confidence motion in Parliament and gave a fitting reply to those spreading negativity across the nation.”

Members of the Opposition walked out of Parliament amid the debate. The truth is that they were afraid of voting on the no-confidence vote…”

He also chastised the Trinamool Congress for the poll-related violence during the West Bengal panchayat election. Modi accused Mamata Banerjee’s TMC of threatening BJP candidates and capturing booths during the Bengal elections.

NDA government defeated a no-confidence motion:

“They go to every length to guarantee that no BJP candidate can file a candidature… They endanger not only BJP employees but also votes. Contracts are provided to goons to capture booths…This is how they conduct state politics…” Modi stated.

The NDA government faced a no-confidence motion in Parliament on Thursday following the premier’s heated speech at the end of a three-day debate.

According to television footage, the motion was lost in a voice vote conducted by the lower house speaker shortly after opposition MPs, including Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, stormed out of the room.

Manipur violence and Bengal poll violence:

In response to the Lok Sabha no-confidence motion, Modi stated, “No-confidence motions have always been lucky for us; this one will also ensure we return with a record-breaking mandate.”

“There was a need for discussion on important bills aimed at the welfare of people, but the Opposition was interested in politicking,” the prime minister had stated.

Taking a jab at the Congress, the prime minister stated that the Opposition’s tallest leader was not on the list of speakers; it was Amit Shah’s generosity that he promised Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury time.
