According to his brother Ganesh Khakhar, veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, well-known for his work on TV series like Nukkad, passed away on Wednesday.
Multiple organ failure was the cause of Sameer’s death, who appeared in Salman Khan’s movie Jai Ho. A report claims that Sameer also suffered urinary and respiratory problems. He was 71.
“Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, widely known for his roles in TV dramas like Nukkad and Circus, has gone away at age 71 due to multiple organ failure,” tweeted news agency PTI on Wednesday. “His younger brother Ganesh Khakhar,” the actor’s younger brother, confirmed the actor’s death.
Ganesh Khakhar, the cousin brother of Sameer Khakhar, said ETimes in an interview that “He was having breathing problems when he slept off and lost consciousness.
He should be admitted to the hospital, the doctor advised when we called. He also had troubles with his urinary system and his heart. After being put on a ventilator, he eventually passed out at 4:30 this morning.”
According to the report, Sameer Khakhar passed away at the Borivali, Mumbai-based MM Hospital, where he had been confined.
According to reports, Sameer’s funeral will occur Wednesday morning at Babhai Naka Crematorium in Borivali.
Hansal Mehta, a filmmaker, paid tribute to Sameer by sharing images of him on Twitter. He explained, “For some reason, I was given the nickname Khopdi in college after his well-known Nukkad persona.
My oldest and closest friends still refer to me as Khopdi. But I suppose it’s time to bid the OG farewell. Farewell, Sameer Khakhar. I appreciate the recollections.
Both the film and television industries used Sameer Khakhar. He could be seen on programmes like Nukkad, Manorajan, Circus, Naya Nukkad, Shrimaan Shrimati, and Adaalat.
His most recent appearance was in Sanjivani alongside Surbhi Chandna and Namit Khanna. He was well-known in Gujarati theatre as well.
Sameer Khakhar, known for his portrayal as Khopdi in the movie Nukkad, stated in a 2021 interview that he was searching for excellent jobs because he claimed they had stopped coming his way.
He had stated in an interview with The Indian Express, “I don’t want to sound depressed by saying that I’m not happy with the way things are right now. Nonetheless, I sincerely hope that I can find the volume of work I am seeking for. I can’t wait to face the camera.”
