Former Russian commander Igor Girkin says Russian President Vladimir Putin has no ambitions or plans for Ukraine.
According to Newsweek, Igor Girkin slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin for lacking goals or a plan, saying, “The goals of the war are not defined, and the understanding that ‘this war – until the complete win of one of the parties’ – also did not emerge among the inhabitants of the Planet of Pink Pony.”
Vladimir Putin stated that the “special military operation” in Ukraine aims to “liberate the separatist Donbas region and rid the Ukrainian government of Nazis.”
However, Igor Girkin asserted that there could be “no strategy” for the conflict if Vladimir Putin is unsure of its objectives.
“There is no conscious work on strategy implementation if there is no strategy.” And the enemy initially has such a strategy, which he implements with zeal,” Igor Girkin explained.
Russia will be “beaten” shortly since its military “did not succeed in beating the enemy at all during the winter-spring campaign,” he warned.
The remarks come as the battle for Bakhmut continues, with the Wagner Group appearing to reverse course on preparations to abandon the city, only to change their minds later.
Bakhmut has witnessed some of Ukraine’s most dramatic fights. Kyiv is planning a counteroffensive to recapture more occupied territory in the coming months.
