Noted author Salman Rushdie, infamous for writing The Satanic Verses, denies saying the text quoted by a Twitter user, which showcases Muslims in bad-light.

Salman Rushdie took to his Twitter to request the social media platform to take down a false quote attributed to him and pointed out the Islamophobic quote which he said he has never uttered. The quote in question implied that Muslims all over the world have just one goal that is to destroy the whole nation by bomb blasts, terrorism, riots, popular explosion, and jihad. 

Salman Rushdie shares a fake Islamophobic quote under his name on Twitter, and asks it to take down the tweet:

The renowned author shared the quote that had been circulating off late on Twitter and clarified that he has never uttered any words of the sort and asked Twitter to take the fake tweet down.

An Islamophobic quote was attributed to Salman Rushdie on Twitter:

The Midnight’s Children author dismissed the Islamophobic quote which wrongly quoted him as saying that Muslims whether they live in India or Pakistan, Nigeria or Syria, whether they are poor or rich, educated or illiterate, their only goals is to destroy the whole nation through nefarious means in the name of Islam. In the past, Rushdie was embroiled in a controversy, post the release of his book, The Satanic Verses. An India-wide ban was imposed on the book, and the author was accused of blasphemy. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini of Iran had issued a fatwa on his name in 1989. Salman Rushdie has been vocal about the necessity of writing and described the art as a calling that requires discipline. Last year, Rushdie’s last book, Quichotte was shortlisted for the Booker.
