Since Tuesday, the Odisha government has permitted the reopening of medical colleges throughout the state, even as it approved the departments of School & Mass Education as well as Higher Education to decide on the resumption of classroom teaching.

Medical colleges open with proper guidelines:
All state medical colleges will reopen with effect from 1 December 2020. Medical college authorities should scrupulously follow all the SOPs/guidelines provided by the central/state government regarding social distancing and prevention of disease spread; On Monday, a government order stated the government directed the Department of School and Mass Education to consult all stakeholders and decide on the reopening date of schools in a graded manner for classes from 9 to 12.
Reopening decision on stakeholders:
Similarly, in consultation with the related stakeholders, the Higher Education Department was also allowed to take a decision on the reopening of colleges and higher education institutions, the order said.
It mentioned that all institutions for academic, technical, and skills development, except medical colleges, would remain closed until 31 December or until the date determined by the departments concerned.
online distance learning is allowed:
Notwithstanding the closure of these institutes, the authorities can carry out reviews, evaluate the response documents, and carry out other administrative activities, noting that online distance learning is allowed and encouraged.
It claimed that all Anganwadi centres would remain closed until 31 December and that the arrangements for the distribution of rations to the recipients should continue.
Other relaxations by Government:
“At the opening of places of worship, the order stated, “Local authorities such as district magistrates, municipal commissioners can approve reasonable restrictions on public worship in religious/places of worship, based on local assessment of the condition with regard to COVID-19 extended.
Movie theatres, swimming pools, shopping centres, theatres, auditoriums, and similar venues will remain closed. Even then, subject to compliance with safety precautions such as mandatory face masks and physical distancing, open-air theatres were permitted to operate.
