Uorfi Javed replies on Vivek Agnihotri ‘costume slavery’ tweet

Uorfi Javed has commented on filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet on ‘costume enslavement,’ which he put alongside a photo of actor Aishwarya Rai at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in a black and silver hooded gown by Sophie Couture on the Cannes red carpet.

Vivek Agnihotri posted a photo of Aishwarya Rai laughing and posing for the media on the red carpet as her aide fixed her clothing. “Have you guys heard of a term called ‘costume slaves’?” Vivek wrote.

They are mostly women (save for one suitably dressed man). They may now be seen on practically every female celebrity in India. “Why are we becoming so stupid and oppressive for such unappealing fashion?”

In another tweet, he stated, “My comment has nothing to do with ARB.” It’s all about the strange concept of “costume slavery.” And it is not the fault of ARB. She is simply a model and a fashion ambassador.”

Uorfi Javed tweeted in response to Vivek’s remark, “Mai jaan na chalti hu aapne kaunse fashion school se apni degree lee hai?” Aapko dekh k lagta hai aapko fashion ki kaafi samajh hai, fashion movie aapko direct karni chahiye thi (I’d want to know where you got your degree in fashion. You appear to be well-versed in fashion; you should have directed the Fashion film)!”

Madhur Bhandarkar directed the play Fashion (2008). It features Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Samir Soni, and Arbaaz Khan.

Aishwarya and her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan returned to Mumbai on Saturday after visiting the Cannes Film Festival. The actor sported an enormous grey and green shirt with black trousers for the trip. Aaradhya wore a black shirt with grey trousers.

Aishwarya Rai is one of the most famous Indian faces on the international stage, particularly at Cannes. Sophie Couture’s official Instagram account revealed the specifics of the actor’s garment.

The post read, “Unveiling a mind-blowing creation from our Maison, coupled with lightweight aluminium details, a signature corset, and crystals, from the Cannes Capsule Collection.”

Cannes Film Festival 2023 began on May 16 and will end on May 27. Aside from Aishwarya, other Bollywood superstars such as Sara Ali Khan, Urvashi Rautela, Esha Gupta, Manushi Chillar, and Mrunal Thakur have confirmed their attendance at Cannes 2023.
