Speaking to JioStar ahead of India’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Kohli said the tag has caught on for good reason. “Ro-Ko has a nice ring to it,” he said, adding that “it sounds nice, it sounds good, and people are having a lot of fun with it.” With both players now retired from T20Is and Tests, ODIs remain the only format where fans still get to see the duo together, making each appearance feel more significant.

Since stepping away from India’s T20I setup after the 2024 T20 World Cup win and retiring from Tests in 2025, Kohli and Rohit have narrowed their focus entirely to one-day cricket. Kohli also acknowledged the commercial appeal of the moniker, noting broadcasters likely enjoy using it as a tagline whenever the duo takes the field together again.
