The seventh season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is already underway, with Chepauk Super Gillies against Salem Spartans in the second match. 

The Super Gillies easily won by 52 runs, but a humorous event stole the show. Abhishek Tanwar, the Salem Spartans’ bowler, ended up giving up 18 runs off the game’s final ball.

Abhishek Tanwar the No Ball Machine:

Tanwar may have taken a wicket off the final delivery of the 20th over, only to have it ruled no-ball. Another no-ball followed, bringing the bowler’s total to three no-balls and one wide. 

The penultimate ball was hit for 18 runs, making it the most expensive delivery in T20 cricket history. Tanwar let 44 runs off four overs while taking up a wicket.

Super Gillies won the match:

The Super Gillies scored 217 runs in 20 overs for the loss of five wickets, thanks to the penultimate ball. Pradosh Paul Ranjan was their leading run-scorer, hitting 88 off 55 balls with 12 fours and a six. Sanjay Yadav finished unbeaten on 31 off 12 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes. 

Muhammed Adnan Khan slams 47: 

In response, the Salem Spartans were never in the hunt, with none of their top seven batters scoring more than 24 runs. 

Muhammed Adnan Khan, batting at number nine, hammered 47 off just 15 balls with two sixes to his name, but his heroics were in vain as the Spartans could only muster 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs, losing the game by 52 runs.
