Actor Kiran Kumar tests Covid-19 positive, India’s Coronavirus tally up-to 1.31 Lakh.

The veteran actor who’s known for his film and TV performances is self-isolating at his home.

On Saturday, Indian actor Kiran Kumar revealed that he has tested positive for the novel Covid-19 virus on 14th of May and has since been home quarantined. The veteran actor further revealed that since the diagnosis, he has remained asymptomatic. Kiran Kumar said he felt absolutely fine and that in his house, he has self-quarantined himself on the third floor, while his family stay on the second floor. The 74 year old is reliving his boarding school days and will take the Coronavirus test again in 2-3 days.

A record 6767 fresh new infections were reported which took India’s Coronavirus tally to 1,31,868. As India nears it’s peak, Saturday was the third consecutive day of 6000 plus cases. The highly contagious virus is spreading with more speed and reported 147 deaths in the last 24 hours. 

India’s death toll stands at 3867. It is also revealed through an analysis of hospital inventory that districts reporting new cases are showing glaring gaps in their testing facilities. This delays the reporting of the correct number of Covid-19 patients. 

As per the Union Health Ministry’s data, 54,440 patients have recovered from the disease as 73,560 are active cases in India. India is showing positive signs in terms of the recovery rate, now at 41.28%, but is losing the battle with a daily spike in the total number of cases.

In Gujarat, Ahmedabad registered fresh 277 cases and crossed 10,000 total coronavirus cases as the state’s tally rose to 13,669. Maharashtra’s tally climbed to 47,190 and over 1500 dead as it remains the worst affected state in the country. Behind it is Tamil Nadu with 15,512 coronavirus infections with 103 causalities.

Delhi’s total number of cases rose to 12,910 with 231 deaths. These big 4 states account for 67% of India’s total tally of 1.31 Lakh cases. 

5.31 Million positive cases have been registered globally and more than 3,42,000 people dead.
