Amit Shah slams the Gandhi family on 45 years of Emergency.

The Union Home Minister says the mind-set of the Congress in catering to just one family has still not changed.

On Thursday, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress party for the emergency imposed on June 25,1975 by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In a scathing attack, Amit Shah said that interested of one family were prioritized over the nation and the party and that mind-set has still not changed even after 45 years since the Emergency was imposed.

Amit Shah confronts the Gandhi family:

The nation was overnight turned into a prison by the imposition of the Emergency only to facilitate one family’s greed for power. Shah said that there was no democracy in the Congress party back then and situation hasn’t changed even at present. Shah highlighted the fact that the Emergency was lifted after the efforts of lakhs of people. The home minister said,” Democracy was restored in India but remained absent in the Congress, This sorry state of affairs thrives in today’s Congress too.

Amit Shah says Congress party lacks democracy:

The sad truth is leaders are feeling suffocated In Congress.” Amit Shah also pointed out that earlier in the week, Congress Working Committee meeting was held and during that, some young and senior members raised concern over not being heard and one of the party’s spokesperson was sacked “unceremoniously”.

Amit Shah urged the Congress to ponder as to “why it has the same Emergency mind-set?”, and “why does their connect with the people (at large) keep widening?”

A state of emergency was declared by Indira Gandhi for a 21-month period under article 352 of the Indian Constitution because of the prevailing “internal disturbance”.
