A Kerala-based businessman who introduced Diego Maradona, the football legend, to the state in 2012, revealed his intention to create a museum consisting of an all-time great golden sculpture and other memorabilia relating to him.

Bobby Chemmanur stated:

Bobby Chemmanur, Chairman of the Chemmanur Party, said the exact location of the museum had not been determined, but it would be either in Calcutta or in the city of Kerala.

The “Hand of Gold” will be called, depicting the vital goal he scored at the 1986 World Cup. It’ll highlight his personal and professional life. The main attraction will be gold sculptures,’ he stated in Kochi on Monday.

A fusion of traditional art and modern technology would be the planned museum, he said.

Museum a tribute for great ones of all time:

The museum is going to be the very best of its kind. It’s my tribute to the great ones of all time. It’s going to be a knowledge storehouse about him.

We have already begun to collect memorabilia relating to him,” Chemmanur stated. He said the museum’s curator would be artist-writer Bony Thomas, the Kochi Biennale Foundation’s founding trustee.

A long time friendship with Maradona:

Recalling his long friendship with Maradona, Chemmanur said he once gave the football legend a miniature gold statue that conveyed his desire to see a life-size gold sculpture similar to his “hand of gold” pose while embracing it with a wide grin. I find it is my duty,” he said to fulfil his wish.

kerala’s love for soccer:

Kerala’s great love of soccer was well known. The state experienced two days of mourning as he died in Buenos Aires on 24 November at the age of 60.

In North Kerala, in his favourite jersey No 10, the soccer-mad fans took to the ground as well as some of them broke down while speaking about the all-time great. Many mini-matches and meetings were planned.

In 2012, Maradona visited the state to celebrate his 52nd birthday in Kannur, North Kerala. He sliced a 25-kg football-shaped cake, sang as well as danced, and kicked a lot of balls for the ecstatic fans in the galleries.
