Preparations for the preservation of social distance and sanitization facilities are being carried out at Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 in Jammu, before the scheduled reopening of the schools amid the COVID-19 pandemic on September 21.
According to the guidelines by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), as of September 21, states and Union Territories (UTs) are authorized to call 50 per cent of non-teaching and teaching staff to online teaching schools and related works.
According to our sources the institution’s teacher, Raj Kumar Sharma, they are taking all steps to ensure safety in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We obey the Center’s instructions, and the students (from Class 9 to 12) will come with their parent’s permission for guidance after September 21, according to it. It would not be possible to run classes as before.
Still, we have mounted touch-free sanitizers as a precautionary measure, and markers in the open areas are followed at all times to ensure social distance,’ Sharma told ANI here.
“Our first goal is to make sure the children are healthy. They will have to continue wearing masks even though they are in class. When the children come to meet with the teachers, one student will be seated separately.
During this time, the students in classes 10 and 12 priority,’ he added.
The teacher further said that while the online mode of education was highly successful, some students still felt the need to meet and communicate face-to-face with the teachers to address their queries.
Since March, schools across the nation have been closed due to the coronavirus outbreak and classes have conducted online.
On 8 September, the Union Health Ministry released a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the partial reopening of the schools for students in grades 9 to 12 to obtain voluntary guidance from their teachers.
The SOP follows the Home Ministry’s Unlock 4 guidelines that entered into force on September 1.
It specified that students from classes 9 to 12 would be able to visit their schools for guidance from their teachers voluntarily only in areas outside the containment zones, and this will be subject to their parent’s or guardians’ written consent.
