Sanjay Dutt Says Shekhar Suman Show Remarks Were Scripted

Actor Sanjay Dutt has addressed the controversy over his recent appearance on Shekhar Suman’s show Shekhar Tonite. He said his remarks were part of a scripted segment and do not reflect his personal views. Dutt shared a video statement on October 5 after some of his comments drew mixed reactions on social media. The clarification aims to calm the debate that followed the episode and set the record straight for viewers.

Scripted Segment, Not Personal Opinion

In the video, Dutt said several people had contacted him on social media about what he said on the show. Some told him they were surprised by his remarks, while many others strongly disagreed. He said he understood their feelings. The actor explained that, as is common on television shows of this kind, the segment followed a script, and everything said was part of that performance and its context. He stressed that the remarks should not be taken as his personal opinion. He also said he did not want the segment to create any misunderstanding about his actual views.

Humour Inspired by Munna Bhai

Dutt said the segment was meant to be light-hearted and humorous. He drew inspiration from his popular Munna Bhai character, known for its warmth and affection. According to the actor, the intention was to spread love, warmth and goodwill rather than offer any political commentary. He reiterated that he never meant to offend or hurt anyone with his words, and he thanked those who shared their feelings with him.

The statement is Dutt’s attempt to ensure viewers see the segment in its intended spirit. By making clear that the comments were performed according to a script, the actor hopes to move past the controversy and keep the focus on the entertainment value of the show.
