Gujarat Science City is set to unveil its newest attraction, the Astronomy and Space Science Gallery, adding an exciting dimension to its campus. The gallery, which opens to the public on Thursday, spans an impressive 12,797 square metres and is spread over three floors, offering visitors an immersive experience into the wonders of space and astronomy.

Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Mona Khandhar, recently took a comprehensive tour of the gallery to review its exhibits and facilities. The gallery is thoughtfully divided into six main sections, each designed to engage visitors with different aspects of astronomy and space science.

The Fundamentals and History section provides an introduction to basic astronomical concepts and traces the historical journey of mankind’s fascination with the cosmos. This section offers insights into early astronomical discoveries and ancient tools used to observe the skies.

The Present Gallery section focuses on current space missions, satellite technology, and ongoing research in space science. Visitors can explore India’s contemporary advancements and initiatives in space exploration, giving them a glimpse of the scientific progress being made today.

Looking ahead, the Future Gallery section offers a fascinating peek into upcoming projects and the future of space exploration. It aims to inspire young minds by showcasing ambitious missions and technological innovations planned by space agencies worldwide.

A special Science Gallery is dedicated to highlighting India’s remarkable contributions to astronomy and space science. This section celebrates the achievements of Indian scientists and the country’s growing role in the global space community.
