Vadodara City Police apprehended a second suspect, Zeeshan Pathan, in connection with the recent stabbing death of a migrant youth in Karelibaug.
Zeeshan is accused of purportedly arranging a “supari” (contract) for the murder, allegedly hiring Ghulam Pathan as the contract killer.
Previous Arrest and Investigation by Vadodara City Police:
Ghulam Pathan was previously arrested on February 8, a day after the murder, for allegedly stabbing the victim, Nizam Pathan, as he left his residence for work. Subsequent interrogation of Ghulam led investigators to Zeeshan, who reportedly had an extramarital relationship with Nizam’s wife.
According to police statements, Ghulam Pathan confessed during questioning that he killed Nizam after he refused to pay him Rs 30,000. Zeeshan allegedly gave Ghulam an advance payment of Rs 6,000 and promised additional rewards, including loan waivers and purchasing a new autorickshaw.
Love Angle and Relationship Dynamics:
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Zone 4) Panna Momaya indicated that suspicions arose regarding the murder motive, leading investigators to explore a possible romantic motive.
It was revealed that Zeeshan was romantically involved with Nizam’s wife, a fact discovered by Nizam in October.
Despite his wife’s assurances of ending the relationship, Zeeshan purportedly believed that Nizam’s continued existence posed a barrier to their relationship.
Pre-meditated Plan and Evidence:
The police investigation uncovered CCTV footage depicting the accused plotting the murder over several meetings since January.
Zeeshan and Ghulam allegedly met four times to plan the crime, with footage from these encounters serving as crucial evidence in the case.
Ongoing Investigation by Vadodara Police:
Authorities continue to gather evidence and conduct further inquiries into the murder case. The suspects face charges related to conspiracy, contract killing, and other offenses.
The police emphasized the importance of CCTV footage and eyewitness testimonies in securing justice for the victim and prosecuting those responsible for the crime.
