Ahmedabad to Host Premium Real Estate Management Institute by Ganesh Housing Group
Ahmedabad is poised to become a hub for cutting-edge real estate education with the announcement of a new premium institute dedicated to the sector. The ambitious project is being spearheaded by the city-based Ganesh Housing Group, which plans to establish a sprawling 100-acre educational campus on the outskirts of the city. The institute, aimed at producing highly skilled professionals for the real estate industry, is expected to offer postgraduate degrees in real estate and related disciplines.
The announcement was made by Shekhar Patel, Managing Director of Ganesh Housing Group, at the investiture ceremony held on Friday at Mahatma Mandir. On the same occasion, Patel was officially appointed as the President of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) National for the term 2025–2027, succeeding Boman Irani, CMD of Mumbai-based Keystone Realtors Ltd.
Vision to Surpass IIM-A Standards
Patel unveiled plans for the proposed Ganesh Real Estate Management Institute, expressing a bold ambition to match or even surpass the standards of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). He stated that the institute would be a flagship centre of excellence for the real estate sector, with a comprehensive curriculum covering every aspect of property development, construction, and realty finance.
“We wish to take the quality of education and courses to a level that the institute surpasses well-known institutes like IIM-A,” said Patel.
Currently in its conceptual stage, the project team is studying various national and international models to build a robust framework for the institute. Once finalized, construction will begin promptly.
Rs 10 Crore Commitment for National Development
During his address, Patel also outlined his broader vision as CREDAI National President. He announced that Ganesh Housing Group would contribute Rs 10 crore over the next five years—Rs 5 crore for skill development in the construction sector and Rs 5 crore for afforestation efforts.
This commitment aligns with the MoU signed between CREDAI, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and the Quality Council of India (QCI). The agreement aims to strengthen skill training, capacity building, and worker certification in the construction industry. The funds will be disbursed at a rate of Rs 1 crore annually for each initiative.
A 5-Point Agenda for CREDAI
Patel also outlined a five-point agenda to guide his tenure at CREDAI. The plan includes:
- Training 10 lakh skilled workers across India in partnership with state and central governments.
- Establishing a data analytics centre to drive data-driven decision-making in the sector.
- Leading reforestation drives, beginning with the Western Ghats.
- Advocating for affordable housing reforms through practical policy changes.
- Streamlining building approvals and reducing construction costs to improve operational efficiency.
With this initiative, Ahmedabad not only strengthens its reputation as a real estate hub but also sets the stage to become a national centre for real estate education and innovation, potentially transforming the talent pipeline in the Indian construction and infrastructure ecosystem.
