Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma Wait in Japan Dinner Queue After Gold

India captain Shreyas Iyer and batter Tilak Varma were spotted waiting in an ordinary restaurant queue in Japan, just days after helping India win Asian Games cricket gold in Nagoya. There was no private seating and no wall of security. The two stars sat on a bench among other diners, waiting for their turn like everyone else.

A Fan’s Chance Encounter

An Indian family ran into the cricketers, and one fan captured the moment and shared it on Instagram. The caption joked about having Tilak Varma and Shreyas Iyer as dinner queue partners. The post quickly became a talking point because of how relaxed and unassuming the players appeared, despite being among the most recognisable faces in Indian cricket.

Both players seemed completely at ease, patiently waiting as any other customer would. When the fan recognised them, Iyer and Varma obliged with smiles and signed autographs. There was no fuss and no sign of any VIP attitude, a gesture that fans tend to remember long after the match is over.

Gold Over Pakistan

The dinner outing came right after India secured gold with a 19-run victory over Pakistan in the final on Saturday, October 3, at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. The high-octane win completed a cricket gold-medal double for India, with the women’s team also having claimed the title.

For Iyer and Varma, the victory capped a memorable campaign in Japan. Yet away from the celebrations and the cameras, the pair chose a simple evening out, queuing patiently and engaging warmly with supporters.

The encounter offers a glimpse of the cricketers away from the pitch. In an era when star athletes are often shielded from public view, the sight of two gold medallists waiting their turn for a table struck a chord with fans who value humility as much as victories.
