Barcelona icon Leo Messi join the billion-dollar club after Cristiano Ronaldo.

There are often disputes on who is better? Is it Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo among the fan community. 

Cristiano Ronaldo achieved his billion-dollar club earlier this year and became the first player to do so. Messi has now earned around 1 billion dollars as his pretax income in his whole career.

 The six-time Ballon d’Or winner also had a competition with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of the highest-paid footballer in 2020.

Messi sponsored by many companies which include Adidas, Pepsi soft drink company, And the AI vision company Orcam technologies and recent times the limited edition Budweiser beer. 

Competitions on the list of the highest-paid : 

Forbes has also reported earnings of Cristiano Ronaldo of this year. Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports, is the first player to cross the 1 billion mark ever through career earnings. However, Leo Messi tried to overtake Ronaldo with his career earnings in 2020. 

Ronaldo the second on the list to earn 117 million dollars this year. Cristiano is the most followed athlete on both Instagram and Twitter. He is sponsored by Nike and Herbalife.

Besides Ronaldo and Messi many other players are having a competition on the top 10. The third place is secured by the former Barcelona player Neymar junior who now plays for the PSG club. 

He has earned 96 million dollars this year. The Brazilian captain has currently been sponsored by Puma as Nike contract came to an end. 

Following Neymar his team-mate Kylian Mbappe stands on the IV place with the total earning of 42 million dollars this year. Mohammad Salah the Liverpool star secure 5th place with 37 million dollars this year.

 Following him comes Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann, Gareth Bale, Robert Lewandowski and David De Gea comes in the top 10 list. 

Messi transfer Saga : 

Messi was about to leave Barcelona some weeks ago but eventually opted to stay at Barcelona as his contract was still at remainder. Any club who wants to sign him will have to pay 700 million euros release clause.
