UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and demanded strict action to be taken against the criminals.

On Friday, eight policemen, including a deputy superintendent and three sub-inspectors were killed by a group of criminals after ambushing the police team, in Kanpur. The Chaubeypur police team was trying to arrest a criminal on late Thursday night when the criminals blocked their car and opened fire at them. Four other cops are currently being treated in the hospital, as they got multiple bullets injures in the encounter that ensued in Bikaru village. The police officials revealed the accused to be Vikas Dubey, whom the policemen were going to arrest. A case has been registered against Dubey, who is a history-sheeter, facing 60 criminal cases.

Yogi Adityanath expresses condolences, promises strict action against the culprits:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath deeply expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and has sought a report from the police. The UP CM has also directed DGP HC Awasthi to take strict action against the culprits. Additional Superintendent of Police, Rural, Brijesh Srivastava narrated the incident and said that after the firing, the criminals stole the weapons of the dead cops and escaped from the spot. The injured policemen were rushed to the hospital, where eight of them were declared dead by the doctors. 

Mr Srivastava also revealed that the Kanpur police searched the goons in various areas of the district, and hours later in Bikaru village, a gun battle broke between the police and the criminals during which two assailants were killed. 

The main culprit’s close associate, Atul Dubey, and maternal uncle, Prem Prakash Pandey were arrested. Kanpur Police is on an alert and Vikas Dubey is being looked about as investigations continue on the high profile ambush.
