PM Modi will meet the injured soldiers from the
Galwan Valley clash to boost up the army’s morale.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Leh, Ladakh, to review the ongoing India–China border crisis. The visit comes after more than
2 weeks since 20 soldiers were killed in violent clashes with the Chinese Army,
at Galwan Valley.
This marks the first high profile visit from the executive leadership ever
since the beginning of the border standoff between the armies in May 2020.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief MM Naravane accompanied PM Modi, they arrived at Nimu on Friday morning and interacted with the Air Force, Amy, and ITBP personnel. PM Modi is scheduled to meet the local military leadership, including Lt. General Harinder Singh, XIV Corps Commander as well as meet and interact with the injured soldiers from the Galvan clash.
Border stand-off to continue as
military talks fails:
Initially, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Ladakh today, but yesterday, his visit was deferred. Army
Chief Naravane is visiting the region for the third time since the standoff
began in May. During his first visit, he had a meeting at the XIV Corps
headquarters in Leh. On his second visit, Naravane met the injured soldiers
& tried to uplift their spirits while also visiting the forward areas of
the border. Lt. General Bipin Rawat met with his Chinese counterpart, on
Tuesday, for high-level military discussions. Unfortunately, the discussions
have been inconclusive, and further military and diplomatic meetings are
expected to end the border standoff.
This was the third meeting
among top military level officers. The four major friction points between the
two armies are North Bank of Pangong Tso, Hot Springs, Vohra Post, and Galwan Valley.
PM Modi is
believed to encourage and appreciate the army’s efforts on the border, while
also boosting their morale.
