Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the outgoing WFI president, was granted two-day interim bail by a Delhi court on Tuesday in connection with sexual harassment claims made against him by various female wrestlers. Interim bail was granted based on Rs 25,000 bonds.

Brij Bhushan objected to the chargesheet being broadcast verbatim and accused the media of conducting a trial in court. The court responded to the claims by saying an appropriate application may be filed.

Vinod Tomar, the suspended assistant secretary of WFI, was also granted interim bail. The court will hear the usual bail plea on Thursday.

Allegations on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh:

Brij Bhushan’s residence was secured before his hearing before the Rouse Avenue Court. Six female wrestlers have accused Singh of sexually assaulting and intimidating them.

On June 2, the Delhi Police filed two FIRs and ten complaints against Singh, alleging sexual harassment.

Among the allegations against the WFI chief were attempts at inappropriate touching, such as putting his hand over the girls’ chests, moving his hand from the chest to the back, and following them.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has refuted all allegations of sexual assault and even released a strong statement disputing all charges.

Sections imposed on him:

Brij Bhushan Singh, a six-time MP, had been charged by the local police on June 15 under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
