It’s Oppenheimer vs Barbie in Indian cinemas this Friday
It’s a situation of Oppenheimer vs Barbie in India on 21st July as both movies are so hyped, and their advance booking is setting a record.
It’s Barbenheimer Week. The Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer, and Greta Gerwig adaptation of Barbie, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, will be released in theatres this Friday, July 21.
Both movies are receiving a lot of attention, and if early ticket sales are a sign, they will do well in India.
Booking of Oppenheimer vs Barbie:
Oppenheimer’s advance booking began 10 days ago and garnered a huge reaction in the first few hours. According to predicts tweeted by a film trade analyst on Monday, the film has bought as many as 90,000 tickets for the opening day alone across all three multiple chains – PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. IMAX screens are also available.
On the other hand, Barbie only recently began advance booking and has had an encouraging start, selling 16,000 tickets over the three chains for the opening day itself.
Director Christopher Nolan’s statement:
According to Insider, when the author asked Nolan at a press event for Oppenheimer if he’d seen Barbie, he replied with a quick “no,” accompanied by “a hint of disinterest.”
When pressed further, Nolan stated, “Now, you must understand that I’m not going to answer that question other than to say that those of us who care about the theatrical experience have been longing for a crowded marketplace with many different films.” That’s what theatres now have, and those who care about films are thrilled.”
