Nana Patekar Death: Goa Police Register Unnatural Death Case

Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, who passed away on October 8 at the age of 76. The case was registered by Panaji Police under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

What Police Records Say

According to police records, the actor was brought dead to the casualty ward of Manipal Hospital in Bambolim from his residence at Ocean Park, Dona Paula. Further enquiry is underway and is being led by PSI Nitin Naik. Police have not shared more details at this stage, and no cause of death has been officially stated. Registering such a case is a procedural step to establish the circumstances of a death and does not, by itself, indicate wrongdoing.

Tributes From the Film Fraternity

Tributes have poured in from the film fraternity. Anil Kapoor shared a photograph with Patekar and said he would miss him in life, calling him the world’s greatest artist. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty also recalled how the actor reacted when asked about his fee for Golmaal Again, jokingly asking whether he would take money from him.

A video from NDTV, circulating alongside the news, revisits an earlier conversation in which Patekar explained why Natsamrat remained so close to his heart. The film is widely counted among the most celebrated performances of his decades-long career. His passing has left colleagues and admirers across Hindi and Marathi cinema in mourning.

Authorities are expected to share further details as the enquiry proceeds. Until an official statement clarifies the circumstances, readers are advised to rely on confirmed information from police and the hospital rather than speculation circulating on social media. This report is based on details published by News18 and other outlets, and will be updated as more information becomes available.
