Legendary Indian cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar, are en route to Varanasi for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the UP International stadium.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to officiate the ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

Investment in Infrastructure of UP International Stadium:

The UP govt, led by CM Yogi Adityanath, has allocated ₹121 crores for land acquisition in the structure of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi.

Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will invest ₹330 crores in the stadium’s construction.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri expressed his excitement on social media, mentioning his anticipation to reunite with cricket legends in Varanasi.

He also highlighted the significance of the location, where many international runs and wickets have been recorded.

Stadium architecture inspired by Lord Shiva:

The stadium’s thematic architecture draws inspiration from Lord Shiva, featuring designs like crescent roof covers, trident-shaped floodlights, ghat steps-based seating, and Bilvipatra-shaped metallic sheets on the facade. The stadium is designed to accommodate 30,000 spectators.

In addition to the veteran cricketers, key figures from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be present at the foundation stone laying ceremony, including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah.

Uttar Pradesh’s Third International Cricket Stadium:

The stadium in Varanasi will become Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket stadium, following those in Kanpur and Lucknow, further enhancing the state’s cricket infrastructure.
