The Christopher Nolan’s new film Oppenheimer has gained a lot hype, but the movie also got the lime light because of the Oppenheimer Gita controversy.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Ram Gopal Varma was quite nice to Christopher Nolan’s new film Oppenheimer.

However, it was only a matter of time before the outspoken filmmaker tweeted his thoughts on the Bhagavad Gita issue surrounding the film.

Tweet by Ram Gopal Varma:

As he states in his Tweet, Irony is that an American nuclear scientist, Oppenheimer read the BhagwadGeeta, which I doubt even 0.0000001 % of Indians read.

His tweet refers to a contentious scene in the film in which the protagonist, J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), known as ‘the father of the atomic bomb,’ is seen invoking a verse from the holy Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita immediately following a lovemaking scene with his girlfriend (played by Florence Pugh).

The Oppenheimer Bhagavad Gita controversy:

The sequence infuriated the Indian audience, with many venting their rage online, accusing Nolan of hurting religious feelings.

According to ANI sources, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has taken a severe stance on the contentious situation.

In response to the unpleasant sequence, the minister has sought ultimate responsibility from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The Minister has instructed the filmmakers to remove the contentious segment from the film as soon as possible.

Furthermore, according to ANI sources, he has threatened to take harsh measures against all CBFC members involved in permitting the film’s showing.
