Naman Tiwari’s Touching Gesture Leaves Virat Kohli Stunned After RCB Win

A heartwarming moment stole the spotlight after Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched a commanding five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday night. Young LSG pacer Naman Tiwari approached Virat Kohli during the post-match interaction and bent down to touch his feet — a traditional Indian gesture of reverence and blessing-seeking. Kohli, visibly surprised, responded with a warm smile, and the moment quickly went viral across social media platforms.

A Rising Star Shows Humility

Tiwari, just 20 years old, is a left-arm pacer purchased by LSG for Rs 1 crore at last year’s IPL mini auction. He represented India at the U19 World Cup in 2024, claiming 12 wickets in six innings as India finished runners-up. Regularly clocking speeds of 145kph, Tiwari is widely regarded as one of Indian cricket’s most exciting young prospects. His respectful gesture reflected the deep admiration young cricketers hold for Kohli, who remains a mentor figure across the cricketing fraternity.

Kohli Makes History as Impact Player

Wednesday’s match was equally historic for Kohli himself. Nursing a knee injury, he was left out of RCB’s starting XI and sat out during LSG’s batting innings — marking the first time in his IPL career that he featured as an Impact Player. His entry with the bat was anything but quiet. Opening the innings, he top-scored with a commanding 49 off just 34 balls, hitting six fours and a six to anchor the chase of 147, completed in 15.1 overs.

The win pushed RCB to eight points from four victories, lifting them to the top of the IPL 2026 standings.
