Naveen-ul-Haq has made a habit of making headlines in IPL 2023. And it’s not just because of his bowling, which has been quite excellent – he has 11 wickets in 8 matches for LSG in his rookie season.
Naveen-ul-Haq has managed to get under the skin of numerous cricketers as well as fans. Since his on-field altercation with Virat Kohli during an IPL 2023 league stage encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Afghanistan pacer has managed to steal the show with his social media tweets or unusual celebrations after picking up wickets or taking catches.
Naveen-ul-Haq the game changer for LSG:
On Wednesday, in the IPL 2023 Eliminator between LSG and MI, Naveen put up a strong performance with the ball, scooping up the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, and Tilak Varma to finish with numbers of 4/38 in his four overs.
However, that wasn’t enough as MI bowler Akash Madhwal had an even stronger effort with the ball, taking up 5 wickets for only 5 runs to propel MI to Qualifier 2 with an 81-run triumph at Chepauk.
Naveen mocks MI bat’s man:
Apart from his bowling, Naveen thrilled the crowd with his finger-to-the-ears celebrations. Still, his “sweet mangoes” Instagram tale returned to haunt him following LSG’s elimination in the Eliminator.
After Mumbai Indians’ victory, Vishnu Vinod, Sandeep Warrier, and Kimar Kartikeya took an indirect shot at Naveen. They imitated the three wise monkeys by holding mangoes before them and captioned the shot, “Sweet season of mangoes.”
MI players reply to the mock:
The photo was removed later on, but not before screenshots of it went viral on social media. Warrier, Kartikeya, and Vinod were mocking Naveen, who uploaded a mango photograph in the background of MI’s game versus RCB.
He posted an Instagram story describing “sweet mangoes” shortly after Kohli was dismissed in that match. The LSG pacer didn’t stop there; he wrote another anecdote after MI defeated RCB in that match.
In terms of the match, MI batted first and achieved 182/8. MI was supported by Cameron Green (41), Suryakumar Yadav (33) and Nehal Wadhera (23).
Akash Madhwal took 5/5 in 3.3 overs as LSG was dismissed for 101 in 16.3 overs. Marcus Stoinis accounted for 40 runs.
Unfortunately, Naveen will not be part of this year’s IPL because LSG has been eliminated. But the 23-year-old Afghan has more than made an impact in the world’s richest cricket tournament.
