A man from Zimbabwe tests positive for Omicron in Gujarat

According to reports, a 72-year-old man in Jamnagar, Gujarat, tested positive for Omicron, the newest COVID-19 form, after returning from Zimbabwe, one “at-risk” country.

This is India’s third Omicron case.

According to officials, the individual arrived in Gujarat from Zimbabwe on November 28. And tested positive for coronavirus on December 2. After which his sample was sent for genome sequencing.

The sample was submitted to Ahmedabad for genetic sequencing to determine whether he was infecting with the Omicron form, according to Jamnagar municipal commissioner Vijaykumar Kharadi.

The man, born in Jamnagar, has spent the majority of his life in Zimbabwe. He came to meet his father-in-law in the state. His doctor encouraged him to have an RT-PCR test after developing a fever. The private laboratory informed the civic authorities on Thursday that his result had come back positive for COVID-19.

The individual was then transfer to the Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital’s isolation unit, according to Kharadi. Officials claimed the local authorities had already begun tracing his contacts by routine.

After the government stat that two positive cases had been find in Karnataka. The Omicron variant, the latest ‘variant of concern,’ arrived on Indian shores earlier this week. A 46-year-old fully vaccinated doctor from Bengaluru had no travel history and exhibited fever and body discomfort symptoms. A 66-year-old South African national who arrived in India with a negative COVID-19 report are the other two confirm cases in India.
